On October 14th, 2014, industry experts issued a security warning called the P.O.O.D.L.E. vulnerability in relation to SSLv3 which is an outdated protocol used by older websites and browsers to conduct secure transactions. This warning effects primarily computers running Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6 or lower. Systems running these are vulnerable to cyber-attacks that can compromise personal banking information. It is recommended that customers using these older systems upgrade their browsers and operating systems to ensure that their online banking is as secure as possible.
